In February 2012, Ecuador issued regulations requiring pictorial health warnings on all cigarette packages. Effective July 15, 2012, all cigarette packages were required to carry a pictorial warning covering the bottom 60% of the front and back of the package. A series of 6 picture-based warnings are rotated on packages. A new round of 6 warnings are scheduled to appear for one year, starting July 15, 2014.

A single qualitative toxic emission statement is required to appear on 70% of one side panel.

Misleading descriptors including light and mild are prohibited.
