Russia finalized regulations requiring pictorial health warnings for tobacco products on May 10, 2012. These warnings are scheduled to be implemented on May 10, 2013.
Currently, Russia requires a “Smoking kills” text messages covering 30% of the front of the package, with a series of 12 rotated text messages covering 50% of the back of packages.
Under the new requirements, a series of 12 rotated picture-based warnings will be required to appear on the back 50% of the package, while the 30% text message “Smoking kills” will continue to appear on the front.
