Uruguay
Uruguay implemented their current health warnings policy starting 2005. Beginning March 1, 2010, all health warnings are required to cover 80% of the front and 80% of the back of all cigarette pac1kages. Overall, 80% of the package space is appropriated to health warnings, making Uruguay the country with the largest cigarette package warnings in the world. In 2005, a set of 8 health warnings were rotated on cigarette packages and in January, 2008, a new set of 6 warnings were put in place, following a new tobacco control law. Uruguay will implement new warning labels annually, including a separate set of 9 warnings which will be put in place starting January, 2009. An additional 6 graphic health warnings will be implemented in March 2010.
Uruguay also prohibits the terms "light" and "mild" from appearing on packages
As well, Uruguay requires one descriptive message on emissions and constituents on the side of packages.
